Please plan to be at the high school prior to 7:00AM, as this is the time that the bus will leave the parking area. If you are not on the bus, the bus will not wait and you will not row. It could mean that your team won't get a chance to compete so don't be the one that misses the bus.
Notes: Timed Trials - means that boats will not be competing “head to head” / next to each other in a race, but are timed from the start to the end of the course to determine their “timed trial”. This will determine their “place” for the Dual Race Finals.
Dual Race Finals - means that boats start at the same time on the course and compete down the course to cross the finish line first. EVENT LOCATION & DIRECTIONS Ithaca College Ward Romer Boathouse 692 3rd Street Ithaca, NY 14850

DO NOT PARK BUSSES ON THE BLACKTOP AT THE NORTH END OF THE PARKING LOT.
Follow the above directions for team busses, or,
From Rt 13 S, turn right onto Court St just before Green Star’s “The Space”. Cross the tracks, turn to the right and park in the gravel lot before the blockades.
From Rt 13 N, turn left onto Court St just before Ithaca Bakery. Cross Rt 13 S, cross the tracks, turn to the right and park in the gravel lot before the blockades.
Great viewing is also available from the Cass Park (west) side of the Inlet. A paved bike trail follows directly alongside much of the race course. Cass Park is accesible from Rt 89.
Parking for Spectators: Spectators may park across the railroad tracks in Palisade Corporations parking lot. Please pay close attention to closed-off areas and regatta staff’s directions. Parking is also available in the gravel lot south of the boathouse’s paved spots.
WEATHER Keep an eye on the weather as it is ever changing this time of year, but as of Tue 4/23 the forecast is for 49 degrees and periods of rain / overcast during the day. This means that you will need boots at the tent site as we set up on the grass areas. It is expected to rain this week so it will be muddy. You should also plan for rain gear. Chairs can be brought as their is ample seating along the race route to watch and there is some seating near the tents but limited.
FOOD TENT If you signed up to bring items for the food tent, please note that our athletes will want to eat something before their race, so please plan to drop off your items with Brett / Kay LaFrance prior to Sunday so that we can ensure our items are at the tent early AM, unless you are planning to arrive in Ithaca BEFORE 815AM.
Look for our tent - just past the boathouse parking area. We have a RED TENT with a banner with our logo! We traditionally have a little bit of room for the athletes to sit around the tent and ask parents to ensure that there is space for the athletes.
Remember to let our athletes eat first if they are in line around you, they traditionally have a tight schedule of racing and need to ensure that they eat in advance of their racing.
SIGN OUT / TRANSPORTATION AND RETURN TO BOATHOUSE As a reminder, all students are required to be transported TO the race via the school bus at 700AM. Students may opt to RETURN with their parents after the race; however, parents are the only ones allowed to sign out their athlete.
Sign out sheets will be put out after ALL races are complete, and after each coach has confirmed that all boats have been de-rigged and stored for transport back to our boathouse. Sign out sheets will be available at our food tent upon approval of the coach. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE without signing out your child as we take a count to / from each event and the bus cannot leave until every athlete is accounted for.
As a reminder, the food tent folks are going to have left Baldwinsville at 6AM or so to arrive in time to set up our tents and prep all of our food for the day, so it is IMPORTANT that ALL PARENTS try and support our team by offering support during the day, and helping with clean up / tear down if you have not been there for set up in the AM. Many hands make this process run quickly and ensures that everyone can get back on the road quickly and get home.
BOATHOUSE / UNLOADING OF BOATS Our trailer leaves races and heads back to the boathouse in Syracuse @Onondaga Lake and then must be unloaded, with all boats / oars and equipment being put back / stored in the boathouse. Our trailer then returns to Baker High School and is stored on site.
In order to ensure that the same people that ride the bus are not the only folks unloading the trailers all the time, we will be splitting up and assigning this task by race / by grade. For Ithaca race, ALL SENIORS and FRESHMAN (VARSITY) Rowers are expected to return to the boathouse (if you ride with your parents please leave Ithaca and head to the boathouse directly to meet the bus & trailer) to help unload the boats / equipment from the trailer. Novices are welcome to come and learn as you will have to be doing this in the future, but are not required.
SOPHMORES / JUNIORS VARSITY you will have to do this after STATES Weekend later in May.
AGAIN, this is not the job of a select few. If your grade is required to be at the boathouse to unload, please ensure that you are there on time when the trailer gets there. If we do this correctly, it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes or so to unload.
